TRIESTE'S BLURBS

About Trieste: Three people in a room in Seattle between 2006 and 2008, recorded onto an Edirol R-09 that was left running. 130 of those recordings survive, plus four show flyers, ten photographs and a demo sleeve. The band's last show is among them - the Comet Tavern, February 17, 2008, taped from the room. No studio recording of any song has ever been found. The band is named after a bathyscaphe that went to the bottom of the Mariana Trench in 1960.

Who I'd like to meet: Already met them - Arbitron, Beestings, Coal Mine Fires, Neo Tundra Cowboy, Paul Rucker, Shipwreck, Song Sparrow Research, Twilight Zionists. See the shows below.

The finished demo is still missing, but one test mix from the session turned up in 2026: shoelace, dated 12/12/2007, a week before this sleeve was printed. It is below. The demo was recorded at Attercop Sound, and went to KEXP as "Attercop Sound Demos". Four of the five songs are on the practice tapes above. Safari is the one nobody has placed yet - if you recognize it, say so. Jonathan Hudak drew the sleeve. His name is cut off the credits in this scan, which is cropped - a strip about one line deep is gone from the bottom.

some guy I did a teaching course with made me an Mp3 cd of assorted stuff - animal collective , Jens Lenkman , sebadoh, Joanna Newesome dungen etc - I used listen to it in my car without taking much notice of what was playing ( I find it a good way to avoid forming any opinions based on any hype I may have heard). I just remember one my favourite tunes was this one where the guy repeats 'ooOWHOO!!' I automatically assumed this must be that band Animal Collective that everyone keeps going on about. When i finally bothered checking the contents of the Cd, it turned out that it was you guys . I remember the guy who made me the Cd telling me about his mate's band called ' Trieste'. Shit dude all i can say is that I've been listening to your CD non stop over the last year or so and I find it a mystery that no one has ever heard of you.
